A Day To RememberWhy is it a day to remember? Simply cause we had our first batch outing ever yesterday. As my school achieved like their best O Level results in SJI history, we had a day off yesterday.. Anyways, I and Benedick decided to plan a batch outing.. Its was so stressful cause many people cannot turn up..
Anyways, we went to Bugis Junction for movie. We watch Cloverfield which happened to be a dissapointing movie for me at least.. What was suprising was in the end we had like 13 people turning up for the outing yesterday when the night before we only had 7 confirmed people.. So.. after our movie, we went to play LAN..
We tried at Bugis IRC Shop but unfortunately, they only allowed students after 6.30pm as it was a "school day". So we tried Peninsula and they were closed. -.- so bad luck.. Then we went to Paradiz and they allowed us.. They were already people there actually when we went there and guess what? They were all Josephians XD.. They were all Sec 2s when we went there so we decided to play a match (Counter-Strike) with them. After that.. we played by ourselves a game of DOTA.. I get to pawn 2 people. Hooray!! At least that's better than nothing..

Sec 1 UG Orientation
The Orientation made me so tired. Cause the Sec 2s are not marching with the Sec 3s and 4s bandsmen for the Orientation, we're "supposed" to be in charge of letting the Sec 1s try the instrument. Sound so fun right? But actually it was worst that I thought.
Firstly, the Sec 1s was like ill-disciplined (at least some of them) and they're so playful. I can't stand them. I wonder if I was like them a year ago... Anyway, some of us were at the Lecture Theater (LT) for the audition. And I was one of them. We played tunes for them and let them try. Luckily no one dropped my instrument XD. Daniel Tan was so enthu, he went to almost all the Sec 1s to let them try.
It went quite Okay but it was quite tiring. After the orientation, Sec 2s have Ceremonials check and whoever fail, he cannot participate in tomorrow's Master Parade. Good news and bad news. Bad news: Everybody fail the test. Good news: BS gave us one more chance for us to participate in tomorrow's Master Parade. Isn't it Ironic? So that was the day. Waiting for tomorrow's Master Parade. My 2nd so far.

Hari Raya CelebrationYeah.. today's Hari Raya Haji or Eidiladha (dno how to spell).. :D Went to the mosque in the morning for prayers.. It was so empty there though it was like 7.15am Prayer start at 8am but like only 30 people was there. When its 7.40 then people starting coming.. (We should have come later ;D) The "Khutbah" was inspiring to me cause brought me closer to Islam.. After prayer it's beginning to rain when I saw Ibrahim there... The Sec 4 Bandsmen (Drummer) It was quite surprising not expecting him there.. But we didn't talk. (Dno why)
My dad say if he lives near there (Southern Singapore near Sentosa), he might know Ibrahim's dad.. :D Cause my dad used to live there and he knows a lot of people there.. Then we go home.. Now like 3 hours later, there's a family gathering at my house.. Cant wait for it XD .. Catch ya soon

Recording Over.. Whew!!The band recording was two longs day but only 5 songs were recorded. -.- So frustrating cause have to repeat and repeat over and over again because somebody will either mis pitch their instrument or wrong note.. I always play wrong notes on 125th Anniversary Song.. but it's not that obvious.. cause you cant hear Saxophones very well..
Luckily there's free lunch or else very 'sian' cause the whole day is recording. But frankly it's quite slack cause there's many '10' or '5' min break. Actually the '5' or '10' always become 15 or 20 mins..
So it wasn't that tiring.. Now the weekdays are over..
Going Johor Bahru tomorrow at 4am cause my dad wanna skip the jam.. I'm staying at my house there and coming back on Sunday. Yay an overnight there :D Haven't do all my homeworks yet.. Ahh!!! Need to do as soon as possible :S

2nd Band OutingToday was my second outing with the band. Quite fun but tiring.. cause the outing ended about 8pm after dinner. Description about the day....
Went to school cause of Recording Practice..
Practice start 8.30 (suppose to be 8am) around there..
Qilin came late & he got the key to the band room so we're locked outside..
Prac. ended about 12pm.. Went to Tanglin CC..
Once everybody there, we head to Toa Payoh..
Eat lunch at Mc Donald's and watch The Golden Compass..
The movie not bad but quite noisy in the cinema cause of some noisy teenagers..
After that, went to Paradiz Centre near Plaza Singapura to play LAN..
My first time play LAN so I get owned in Counter Strike and DOTA XD..
Saxophone Section got owned by Euphonium in DOTA cause of me :D..
Played until 7pm.. Then we go Plaza Singapura to eat dinner..'
But got to go home so couldn't eat with the band :(..
Went Dhoby Ghaut MRT.. Took the train to Choa Chu Kang and go home..
When reach home, I felt very tired. So I bathed, washed up and sleep.

Massive Jam On PIE (Pan Island Expressway)I was on my way to school cause I have sectionals with my Saxophone section that 'suppose' to start at 9.30. Woke up, cleaned up.. and ready to go. I left at 8.45 thinking there was enough time to reach there. Took my favourite bus, 190 and when it reached on the BKE (Bukit Timah Expressway), a jam awaited us...
The jam which was on the PIE had spread so... long until the BKE which is one of the exits of PIE. Just as the bus got on the BKE, a few miles after that.. was a long 1 hour jam. Cause I was standing since I board the bus.. my leg began to ache. Workers on the bus were obviously late for work.. cause I saw a few calling to say they'll be late..
At the end.. the jam was caused by an accident near the PIE Exit, "Stevens Road and Whitley Road".. which was the exit to my school. It appeared to be a fatal accident involving a motorbike.
2 police cars and a police bike were there and blocked 2 of the 4 lanes of the PIE. Cause it was peak hour.. there many vehicles on the road.. Can you imagine 2 lanes were blocked just cause of a motorbike accident?? Compare the size of the small bike and 2 huge lanes.. (Talking crap)
Anyway.. I was like an hour late because of the jam.. An accident like that made a jam so huge that I think 1/6 of the country are affected especially cause its peak period furthermore it's raining so heavily. So next time you drive... be careful XD cause an accident may just be waiting for you. Hehe :)

'Band'minton Outing : Part 2This is a continuation of Part 1:
Don't know where to eat.. Ended up eating at coffee shop..
No opened Halal shop and missed my Lunch.. Stone for like 15 mins..
Take Bus 131 to United Square.. Walk around and explore..
By then left like 7 people.. Rest of them go home already..
Walked to Novena Square.. Another two went home..
Window shopped for 2 hours.. Walk and walk around the place..
Went to NTUC, Korean shops, Sports shop and many more..
Saw a super small Nike shoe in the Nike Shop.. Like Size -3.. XD
Bought chicken wing from Old Chang Kee for my lunch.. :(
Leg and shoulder was aching like mad..
Was already 5pm.. Head home..
Jian You ask to follow him and Dominic to his father shop..
Cannot 'Tahan', said No and went home..
Journey home was around 33 min..
Had to stand throughout while my leg was painful..
Reach home, clean up and rest.. Leg so pain!!

'Band'minton Outing: Part 1Wow!! What a tiring day.. I spent like 11 hours outside my house hanging out with my friends. My legs hurt so badly and my shoulder also ache like mad ( P.S I don't go out often XD ). This Outing was the first outing I ever had with the Band.. and the longest time I ever spent with the band (except for Band Camp)
Below is a brief description of what happened...
Woke up at 6.15, left house at 7.20..
Ate breakfast with Jian You at McDonalds until 8..
Take MRT to Dorby Ghaut (Meeting Point)..
Jian You got stomachache on MRT..
Stopped at Admiralty use toilet XD..
Go Admiralty McDonald, No toilet.. KFC.. shop not open
At the end... nearest toilet was at the MRT Station(Paiseh) ...
Was already 8.40.. Confirm late for the outing..
Reach Dorby Ghaut.. Lost our way.. OMG!!!
Don't know the way.. Take us like 15 mins to reach..
Reach there, wait for another 30 mins for other people..
Tme was around 9.45, then we go to Civil Service Centre (CSC)..
Played badminton there until 1pm..
Got whacked on the leg by my own racket.. XD
Got trashed by Jian You 15-2 (1 set only) So shameful..
When 1pm, left CSC to eat lunch..

Company Mess 2007Company Mess is a dinner gathering, where all the ex and present bandsmen gather
to celebrate. This year is the first so The Company Mess could still be improved further.. Anyways.. something special about the Company Mess is that Sec 1 and 2s are performing by themselves!! How exciting!! We performed three songs: Blue Ridge Saga, Heal The World (Micheal Jackson) and Hawaii Five-O.
It was quite nerve-wrecking for me cause the Sax and the Clarinet didn't come in the same time during Blue Ridge Saga so the intro was quite funny. Furthermore, I was sitting the first row of the concert formation so whatever I do, the audience (mostly alumni) can see the things I screwed up.
But in all, the Company Mess was still well done. The food is great by the way...

Goodbye Sec 4s....Sec 4 2007, the batch that had brought me closer to the band, will never be forgetten in my heart. After Investiture had ended, Sec 4s are officially passed out and pronounced as "Sir". It was a emotional moment for me cause the leaders ,that had thought me how to do drills and improve my music, are passing out...
However, there's one person who really had contributed a lot to me in my 1st year in Band. He is my Section Leader (SL), Melvin Ng. He really had thought me great stuff, things that even other Sec 1s don't know. I really appreaciate his contribution and shall never forget him. In times of need, he had took the extra mile and helped me with his heart and soul. I hope we shall be in touch forever, and I shall never forget the Sec 4 leaders who had thought me many great stuff..

Band Camp Investiture 2007
The Investiture was nerve-wrecking. So many people made alot of mistakes. But thanksfully the Investiture went pretty smoothly. It was my first Investiture so I was quite nervous especially being the "right-marker". For all of you who dont know.. Investiture is when Sec 4 Bandsmen pass out while Sec 1 Bandsmen are promoted from Recruit to Private. Yes.. Finally, I'm promoted to Private. The Investiture was 45 mins. It was an emotional moment for all of us in the Band cause our Seniors are passing out and may not be able to see them again. What an emotional moment...

155th Anniversary Parade
What a day it was on the Saturday! I was pack with a lot of tasks to do. Firstly, I had to attend music class which was from 8 in the morning to about 8.45am. After which I had my Swimming Sliver Test. It was nerve wrecking but I managed to overcome the test. I passed in the end. The test was held at Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex and it was from 12pm to 1pm. Then the big event came.
At about 5pm, the Parade started. Many parents and ex-students of Sji came and witnessed the changing of commands between the current CSM (Company Sargeant Major) and the upcoming CSM of the 6 uniformed groups: Scouts, NPCC , NCC (Land), NCC (Air) and Military Band. Forced into standing in the hot blazing sun, I almost felt as though i was going to faint. However, I carried on and managed to stayed on in the Parade.
This Parade was very special because firstly, the Military Band was celebrating their 50th Anniversary and secondly, this was the first year Sec 1s got to march on the parade. Befor my batch, not a single Sec 1 batch was able to march for A( I don't know why) For that I believe that this year's AP, although this is my 1st year in AP, was the best among all the APs.

Oops.. That's A Close Shave!!
Today like any other Thursday is the day I have Military Band. I assembled at the Band Area at 2.20pm and was immediately divided into our sectionals to train by ourself. I gathered with the other Saxaphonists and trained by ourselves at one small corner. There's no special thing that had happened until.....
It was about 5.40pm and our officer and told us to keep our instrument beacuse it was almost time to be dismissed. After keeping my Saxaphone, I went to the music room and together with my other friends and sat down quietly. Then the most embarrassing moment that happen to me today has happen. Just as my officer started talking, my phone rang!
As I had forgotten to put it to silent mode, my ringtone which was "I Wanna Love You" by Akon could be heard throughout the whole room. Immediately, I rushed to my bag and immediately turned my phone to silent mode to avoid anymore disappointment. Fortunately , my officer didn't punish me because if I had been punished, I would have to stay back after the CCA to do "pumping". From this incident, I have learnt my mistake and would not repeat it again. From now on, I would remember to off my phone before going to the CCA.

Military Band Rocks!!!
It was a long day today. I ended school at 2.10pm and had Military Band parade immediately. Having not eaten during recess, the last time I had ate was last night- I did not eat breakfast. So, during the entire parade, I was actually starving to death. My Military Band practice would start at 2.30pm and end 6pm. Ocassionally, the band would have foot drills but most of the them, the band would be divided into their different sectionals groups to practice among themselves.
As I play the Alto Saxaphone, I would practice and spent most of the time with my other saxaphonists friends. During every parade, I actually enjoyed myself as I got the chance the learn more and also socialise with my friends and seniors. Recently, about a week ago, I had my Military Band camp. It was fun as I got to know more about my friends and seniors. We also do foot drills and as we move from one place to another in the school (camp was held at school), we had to jog or run and could not take our own sweet time.
At first, before joining Military Band, I thought of it as a CCA that is boring and I did not even think of joing it until my parents recomended me to jooin the band. However, once in the band, I got to know that it is actually fun and enjoyable. The seniors are friendly and are always approachable. There's no other CCA in my school that is more fun and enjoyable like Military Band.
